• 1920

    The first bus is purchased, sporting 25 seats and 8 standees. At the time, buses were still equipped with solid rubber wheels.

  • 1922

    In 1922, C.P. Oostenrijk establishes the first bus service in Diemen. With a few old buses he starts a bus route from the Diemerbrug to the Amstelhotel and the Pretoriusstraat.

  • 1923

    On 1 March 1923, C.P. Oostenrijk officially renames the company to Autobus Onderneming Oostenrijk NV with the assistance of the notary Mr. Dilleman.

  • 1924

    Progress is being made: in 1924, Oostenrijk travels to England to purchase two new buses.

  • 1940

    The first scheduled bus services between Amsterdam, Weesperkarspel, Weesp, Nederhorst den Berg and Muiden have been realised.

  • 1981

    Oostenrijk starts to carry (foreign) tourists to and from the Keukenhof. In the early 1980s, the famous botanical garden north-west of Lisse is already attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors from all over the world.

  • 1984

    On November 1, 1984, Oostenrijk takes over coach company BOKA in Almere.

  • 1992

    Oostenrijk Touringcars becomes the first company in the world to introduce the extended double-decker bus. This unique Volvo coach has a length of a whopping 18 meters and can accommodate 107 passengers.

  • 1997

    Oostenrijk turns 75. Three generations of the Staal family are now sending tourbuses throughout Europe. Manou, daughter of director Cees Staal, is the youngest of the three generations to sit behind the proverbial steering wheel at Oostenrijk Touringcars. The 75th anniversary is celebrated with a reception for public relations and a grand party for the staff.

  • 2012

    Oostenrijk invests heavily in the expansion of its fleet. Different types of buses ensure that almost every transportation request can be met.

  • 2015

    Oostenrijk subsequently develops into a leading Dutch transport company.

  • 2019

    Nearly 100 years later, Oostenrijk Group is an establishment that cannot be ignored in the European travel- and passenger transport sector. Together with a great team of around 90 people and 70 buses, we aim to satisfy our customers by safely bringing them from point A to B.
