Now led by the fourth generation, the company combines over a century of experience with one of the most modern and environmentally friendly fleets in the Netherlands. With deep roots in passenger transport and a strong focus on service, we’ve grown into a trusted name for group travel, coach hire and event logistics — in the Netherlands and beyond.

More than 100+ years on the road

A family legacy on the road since 1922

In 1922, C.P. Oostenrijk launched the very first bus service in Diemen, the Netherlands. With two English double-decker buses, he started a local route from Diemerbrug to the Amstel Hotel and Pretoriusstraat in Amsterdam. The network steadily expanded, including popular lines such as Amsterdam–Laren (1926) and Amsterdam–Diemen–Weesp (1927). By 1939, the latter served nearly 190,000 passengers per year. At the time, the company had a team of six drivers, five mechanics, a garage manager and a secretary.
In the post-war years, Oostenrijk became a key partner for Dutch travel agency De Magneet. From 1964 onward, the company launched its own travel and coach services. By the 1980s, the focus had shifted firmly to coach travel – with a fleet of 26 coaches on the road, including many day trips to the Keukenhof gardens.
Trusted by clubs, schools and institutions
Sport became a major focus: Royal Oostenrijk Group transported players and supporters of AFC Ajax, FC Volendam and FC Haarlem. Over the years, the fleet continued to grow. In addition to traditional tours and group travel, we began transporting school classes to museums, sports facilities and swimming pools. Smaller coaches and minibuses were added to better navigate city centres and improve fuel efficiency.
Under the leadership of Cees Staal – and later his children, Manou and Rogier – Royal Oostenrijk Group grew into a leading passenger transport company in the Netherlands. Today, we operate with a team of 150 professionals, a fleet of around 120 vehicles, and a strong position in European group travel and mobility.

Oostenrijk receives honorary title 'Koninklijk' (Royal)

On 6 September 2023, Royal Oostenrijk Group received the honorary title ‘Koninklijk’ (Royal) from the King’s Commissioner Mr. Van Dijk – a prestigious recognition of over a century of family-led dedication and excellence. A proud moment for four generations of transport professionals.
The AJAX Team Coach & large-scale events

You may know us as the official operator of the Ajax Team Coach, or from our role as a key transport partner during UEFA EURO 2020. With years of experience in complex event logistics, we proudly support leading organisations and major events.
In both 2022 and 2023, AFC Ajax entrusted us with transporting over 8,000 supporters from Amsterdam to Rotterdam for a major football match. We coordinated the operation with over 130 coaches in 5 convoys, running from the Johan Cruijff ArenA to De Kuip and back – on time, safely and efficiently.
